The Interpreter Studio recommends beginning with a language proficiency assessment to better understand your current language skills before starting foundational interpreter training.
Your assessment can give you a clearer picture of your current proficiency level and help you identify whether you are ready to move forward with interpreter training or whether additional language development may be helpful first.
The Interpreter Studio uses Language Testing International (LTI) for language proficiency assessments. Results can help candidates better understand their current language skills and identify appropriate next steps in interpreter training and professional development.
Results may be reported using ACTFL proficiency levels, such as:
Novice → Intermediate → Advanced → Superior → Distinguished
Some ACTFL proficiency levels may also be reported with sublevels such as Low, Mid, or High, depending on the assessment.
After reviewing your results, The Interpreter Studio can help you identify appropriate next steps for training and professional development.
Important: A language proficiency result measures language ability. It does not by itself certify or qualify someone to work in a specific interpreting setting.
Pricing varies depending on the language and assessment selected. The Interpreter Studio will confirm the testing fee and available testing options with you before your assessment is scheduled.
